Best Myrtle Beach Events for Seniors
One of the things people love most about Myrtle Beach is the fact that there are fun events for everyone, from the youngest members of the family to the elder family members. And the best thing is, everyone can have fun! Not only are there great attractions no matter what your energy or mobility level is (and let’s face it, a lot of the time today’s the “seniors” have more energy than the kids do!), but there are also a ton of fun activities and events happening in Myrtle Beach.
Here are a few activities coming up that some of our retirement-aged guests are sure to enjoy:
History Excursions at Brookgreen Gardens
Through March 6 on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon and 2:30 p.m., Brookgreen Gardens visitors will have the opportunity to visit the historic cemeteries of Brookgreen Gardens, also known as the Silent Cities of Brookgreen. These antebellum cemeteries are the eternal home of the owners and slaves of the plantations that eventually would become Brookgreen Gardens. The tours include talks on the historical burial customs of those of European and African origin. Tickets are $15 in addition to garden admission and must be purchased at least 10 minutes before departure time. Note that if riding on bumpy roads is a problem for you, this trip may not be ideal. For information and (suggested) reservations, call 843-235-6038.
Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Museum’s Spring Tour of Homes
If you’re interested in getting a peek inside some of the finest homes on the Grand Strand, this event is for you. On March 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can take part in the tour for $40 in advance or $45 the day of the event, as well as the optional buffet luncheon for an additional $17 per person.
Upcoming Festivals at La Belle Amie Vineyard
If you love a good muscadine wine, good company in a gorgeous setting, and maybe some live music, grab some chairs and head on down to La Belle Amie Vineyard, located in Little River. There are regular (and often weather-permitting) events at the Vineyard, including Wine Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with wine tastings, a vineyard tour, and snacks. Saturday afternoons from noon to 5 p.m. you can enjoy outdoor cooking at Bonfire Saturdays—and admission is free! Some other upcoming events include the Valentine Bonfire ($3 per person plus 2 canned food items to donate) on Feb. 15 and the March 22 Spring Swing/Big Band Fest.
Check the La Belle Amie website regularly, because there’s always something going on!
