Expanded and Upgraded Sharkey’s Beach Now Open
Sharkey’s Beach Bar at 600 N. Ocean Boulevard has always had a great location, just steps away from Bay View on the Boardwalk, but now it also has a fresh new look, just in time for the summer season! The new and improved Sharkey’s is open now, and will unveil a new menu soon.
“It’s a much more elegant feel compared to what Sharkey’s was like before,” said Stoo McFadden, who described his job at Sharkey’s as “I smile and make drinks.”
There is now both an upstairs and downstairs bar, each with a large, horseshoe shaped bar that can seat more than 30 people each. “On top of that, we have seating for more than 30 tables. More than 150 upstairs, plus we’ve added a back patio in the shade under the deck. It’s really got this great, relaxing tiki bar atmosphere.”
The new and improved Sharkey’s also now includes two staircases, as well as elevator access to the upstairs.
“It has a definite family-friendly atmosphere during the day, and we’ll have entertainment to match that through the summer, both upstairs and downstairs. We’ll have acoustic duos, stuff that’s very easy to listen to. But at night, we’ll bring out DJs and have that great Boulevard nightlife vibe, like a club scene, but overlooking the ocean. We have one of the best views in town, and on nights when there are fireworks from the pier, our deck is the best place to see the fireworks in Myrtle Beach,” McFadden said.
The new menu will include bar and grill style food as well as “nice seafood entrees,” but McFadden said the bar’s drinks will really stand out. “I’ve tended bar all over, I worked for years in Manhattan. And these are some of the best drinks I’ve ever served. The jalapeno cucumber margarita is one – it’s cool and refreshing with that bit of bite on the back end.”
“You just have to come down and see it,” he added.
