The summer season may be coming to a close, but the fun is just starting to heat up in Myrtle Beach and Bay View Resort. The end of the busy tourist season also signals the start of the fall festival lineup, and guests at Bayview are in a prime location to enjoy some of the best events the Grand Strand has to offer. Just steps away from the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, Bay View gives its guests easy access to some of the festivals held at Plyler Park.

The action gets started on Labor Day weekend with the Boardwalk Marketplace Arts & Crafts Festival. Arts and crafts vendors from stores and shops in the downtown district, as well as touring vendors from all over the East Coast, will display their wares along the Boardwalk. On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5, patrons can get an early start on the Christmas shopping season by finding one-of-a-kind gifts you won’t have to worry about a duplicate appearing under the same tree. You can also pick up some special souvenirs and watch as artists and craftsmen put on demonstrations.

Also coming to the Boardwalk this fall is the Downtown Oktoberfest celebration that sees the city of Myrtle Beach block off a stretch of Ocean Boulevard so visitors can dance and party in the streets. The main stage is set up on the old Pavilion site, where top local and regional bands perform throughout the day, as well as a roving German oompah group. Food vendors serve bratwurst, schnitzel and other German favorites, as well as more traditional American fare like burgers and hot dogs for the little ones. A special Kids Zone offers inflatable rides, games, and arts and craft projects for children, while the grownups can enjoy the wide selection of German and domestic brews in the beer garden. Both downtown festivals are free and open to the public.
