Labor Day was designed to give hard-working Americans a break from the daily grind before summer fades into fall. Celebrate the occasion with a long weekend in Myrtle Beach filled with lots of fun and free activities. Food and music are the main courses on the menu this Labor Day weekend, along with the usual fun of the beach, fireworks and festivals. Here’s a list of all the action you can cram into a 72-hour getaway to the Grand Strand:

Sept. 4-5, 10th Annual Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival: This decade-long festival pays tribute to three things the Grand Strand knows best – the beach, dancing and making barbecue. Those three are reason enough to throw a party, but there are plenty more in store for those who attend this two-day shindig at the HGTC campus near Market Common. Teams compete for the title in the South Carolina Official BBQ Competition and patrons get to sample the pulled pork, ribs, and chicken wings, along with a new Burgers & Brew contest. Live music and dancing, a car show by the Myrtle Beach Car Club, arts and crafts vendors, a beer and wine garden, and a corn hole tournament are among the scheduled activities, highlighted by a fireworks show on Saturday night. The festival is free with an extra charge for tasting samples.

Sept. 4-6, Fifth Annual Coastal Uncorked Festival: Back by popular demand, the Coastal Uncorked Festival returns with a new date and venue in 2015. Highlighting the food, wine and spirits of the Grand Strand, Coastal Uncorked moves to Broadway at the Beach’s Celebrity Square this Labor Day weekend with a wide variety of events. Friday features Chocolate Under the Moon and Moonshine Mixology, followed by the Brews ‘N The Beach Craft Beer event on Saturday. The Grand Tasting Event closes the show on Sunday, with live music on the outdoor stage and booths serving dishes and wines from local restaurants and national vendors.

Sept. 4-5, The Boardwalk Marketplace Arts & Crafts Show: The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is a hub for free concerts and fireworks shows, and now you can add arts and crafts to that list. This inaugural festival will attract vendors from both the local and regional level to display their wares in the park between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North. The two-day event runs from noon to 7 p.m. each day, followed by live music at the Plyler Park stage.

Sept. 5, Labor Day Saturday Music & Cookout: La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River knows how to throw a party, with biweekly weekend festivals held all summer and fall. But one of the highlights of the calendar is the Labor Day Saturday Music & Cookout, where visitors bring chairs and blankets to stretch out on the lawn and listen to live music on the outdoor stage. Burgers, hot dogs and barbecue are served hot off the grill, and guests can wash it down with beer and, of course, wine fresh from the La Belle Amie cellar. Admission is only $3 and the party runs from noon to 5 p.m.

Sept. 5, The Grand Strand music scene is a little bit country and a whole lot of rock n’ roll on Labor Day weekend. The Alabama Theatre brings the Country Music Capital to Myrtle Beach for the “Stars of Nashville” showcase, featuring Clare Bowen and Charles Esten on stage. Also on Saturday night, the Palace Theatre presents “Satisfaction: The International Rolling Stones Show”, a tribute to the music of Mick, Keith and the boys.
