There’s So Much to do on Foot from Bay View Resort!

Looking to have fun without having to drive while you’re on vacation in Myrtle Beach? Then choose Bay View Resort as your centrally located home base. We’re in one of the best locations on the Grand Strand, right on the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade, which runs along 1.2 miles of beach from the 14th Avenue and 2nd Avenue piers.

The boardwalk is great for people watching, walking, shopping and dining. The mid-section of the boardwalk in particular, from Plyler Park to the former Pavilion Amusement Park at 8th Avenue North hops with energy and a carnival-like atmosphere.

While you’re on the boardwalk, you can also take a flight on the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, the 187-foot gondola wheel that towers over the beach. A flight will take about 10-12 minutes, double if you splurge on a VIP flight. Now, if you’re not into heights, you may still want to check out the SkyWheel from the boardwalk, especially at night, when it’s lit up with millions of LED lights.

When you’re out checking out the Boardwalk, you may find yourself at the southern end at the 2nd Avenue Pier. And if all that walking has built up an appetite, you may want to give the Pier House Restaurant a try. The view from the 2nd Avenue Pier is simply stunning, and the restaurant on the pier is open for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Make note, shirts are required at Pier House Restaurant, though beach attire is welcome at the open-air pier view bar. The pier is open Thursday through Sunday until March 14, after which it will be open daily. The pier also put on weekly fireworks shows during peak season; fireworks on the 2nd Avenue Pier begin after Memorial Day.

Further south, about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, you can visit Family Kingdom, Myrtle Beach’s only seaside amusement park. The amusement park, which includes a rollercoaster, 110-foot slingshot ride, log flume and Ferris wheel, opens March 23, 2013, and the water park opens May 25. Check the website for deals and pricing information.

While you’re in the area, you can also get some shopping in at Pacific Beach Wear at 304 4th Avenue South, which carries the beach gear and gifts you can’t leave Myrtle Beach without.

With all these fun options within walking distance of Bay View Resort, guests who are looking to see Myrtle Beach on foot are sure to enjoy their stay.
