Springtime brings out the pub crawler in all of us.
Especially in a cool place like Myrtle Beach. You could wait around for a local watering hole to set up one of those holiday crawls — or you could definitely do the heavy lifting yourself. Step one is to stay in a place that’s central to a ton of great choices.
And here are suggestions for where to go – and what to order – on your own Bay View Resort-based crawl. But first …
Where To Go On Your Grand Strand Pub Crawl
1. Art Burger Sushi Bar
It’s a hipster bar with a welcoming attitude. You’ll love the local art that adorns the walls — even in the latrine! Relax with a cold one with their outdoor seating.
WHAT’S GOOD: Take your pick: Jack Fire, Jack Apple, or Jack Honey Shots.
IF YOU’RE GRUBBING: The Fried Chicken Roll has mac and cheese and barbecue sauce and, rolled like sushi. You’ll never find anything else like it.
2. The Chemist
t’s the kind of place you might crave a visit to a couple of nights in a row. They serve a nice happy hour menu at reasonable prices.
WHAT’S GOOD: The $5 happy hour pitchers can make your circle of friends happy. For more discerning tastes, The Chemist conjures up amazing craft cocktails.
IF YOU’RE GRUBBING: The chicken wrap is killer.
3. Grand Strand Brewing
A terrific patio with a view of the waterway is a welcome spot for a stop. Beer choices are deep, and the food is delicious. Their bartenders know their craft.
WHAT’S GOOD: Unity beer, brewed on-site. You have to try the Cybernetic Organism, for the name if anything.
IF YOU’RE GRUBBING: You can’t beat the blackened shrimp tacos.
4. Sharkey’s Oceanfront
It’s a friendly, comfortable stop. Dogs can chill on the patio, and the atmosphere is laid-back.
WHAT’S GOOD: Rev up a Blue Motorcycle or gather around a Hula Hooch Bucket. They serve a superb Cosmopolitan, but also must-try cocktails such as the Shark Bite.
IF YOU’RE GRUBBING: Grab the Coconut Shrimp for an appetizer. Or, Sharkey’s Famous Grouper Tacos if you’re hungry and unwilling to share.
