They say life imitates art, but sometimes it’s the other way around. Such is the case at Legends in Concert, which is celebrating 20 years on the Grand Strand and five years in its current Broadway at the Beach location. During those spans, live tribute artists have been imitating the acts and lives of some of the top celebrities from the world of entertainment.
As part of a national chain of theaters that includes locations in Las Vegas and Hawaii, as well as in casinos and on cruise ships throughout the Americas, Legends in Concert brings the performances and personalities of the brightest stars to the masses. Featuring a spectrum of big names from the silver screen and some of the golden voices of music, Legends in Concert wows crowds with its performers’ striking resemblances to the stars they portray and gives its patrons the chance to see reenactments of stars past and present delivering their finest shows.
Promising a good time for guests of all ages and musical tastes, Legends in Concert has hosted performers portraying entertainers from the early days of Hollywood and pop music, such as Marilyn Monroe, Little Richard, and the Rat Pack of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., as well as the latest icons, such as Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry. From pop stars like Madonna and Michael Jackson to country stars like Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton to Motown stars like Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, Legends in Concert has it all, providing the perfect entertainment venue for family members to see their personal favorites.
Among the more than 100 artists who have been honored onstage at Legends in Concert’s Myrtle Beach location over the years are a list of late greats whose performances and memories are kept alive by Legends in Concert, such as the recently deceased David Bowie and Whitney Houston, as well as longtime legends Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. Other artists portrayed include still-living legends who no longer perform regularly or demand a steep concert ticket price, such as Cher, Barbra Streisand, Elton John and Neil Diamond. But for the price of admission, guests can see several of these tribute artists delivering near identical shows on the same stage.
Where else can you see the Blues Brothers’ dance routine, Diana Ross & The Supremes harmonizing to their hits and Jerry Lee Lewis banging on his trademark flaming piano — all in one place? Modern-age pop stars like Adele, Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga perform in front of packed houses and arenas, as do longtime legends like Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Rogers, Prince, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder and Sting, but you can catch their tributes live in Myrtle Beach. Sing along with the hits of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and laugh along with the comedy of Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Griffin — all under one roof at Legends in Concert.
Making the Legends in Concert experience even more realistic is the state-of-the-art theater featuring high-tech sound and lighting. The small theater and well-organized seating arrangement give guests an up-close-and-personal encounter with tributes to some of their favorites, and autograph sessions are held after the shows so you can meet the tribute artists in person and pose for pictures that will trick your friends on social media into believing you are rubbing elbows with A-list celebrities. Dinner-and-show packages are also available, so you can pair your trip to Legends in Concert with a nice meal at one of Broadway at the Beach’s best restaurants.
Guests at the Bay View Resort, which is located just three miles from Legends in Concert, have extra incentive to see the show. Inside your Sun & Fun Rewards package, which you receive at check-in just for staying with us, you will find one free ticket to Legends in Concert, good through June 5. Shows are held Mondays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., with occasional 2 p.m. matinees scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
