Longtime visitors to Myrtle Beach’s famed Broadway at the Beach will notice some major changes to the complex this season, but none more obvious than the altered skyline of Celebrity Square. Gone is the iconic pyramid that was home to Hard Rock Cafe for two decades, and in its place is a new popular hot spot — the Grand Strand’s first Dave & Buster’s.
This national chain of sports bars/game arcades is the latest addition to the Broadway at the Beach entertainment lineup, bringing the brand’s motto of “Eat, Drink, Play and Watch Sports — All Under One Roof” to the Celebrity Square district. Featuring an extensive menu of food and beverages and a massive amount of new-age video games and old-school amusements, Dave & Buster’s provides a fun-filled venue for all ages in a section of Broadway at the Beach known for its nightlife.
Scheduled to open in May 2017, Dave & Buster’s also brings another sports bar option to the area just in time for the NBA and NHL finals and the Major League Baseball and NASCAR seasons. Dave & Buster’s hosts fantasy-league games during the NFL season and holds special parties around major sporting events to bring sports fans together for the big games. The big-screen TVs and in-booth monitors offer plenty of viewing options, and there are extra rooms for private parties. The Dave & Buster’s rewards program allows patrons to use their power cards and bonus cash at any location, so you can save money on your vacation budget by loading up on points and redeeming them during your visit to Myrtle Beach.
Named after two good friends with an affinity for spots, food and good times (fittingly, Dave and Buster), the franchise isn’t the only big name finding a new home at Broadway at the Beach. “The Queen of Southern Cuisine” Paula Deen is opening the latest in her line of country-cooking restaurants this spring at Broadway. Featuring some of her favorite comfort-food recipes and full table-service dining, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and Deen’s famous desserts.
Another family venture comes from the talented Wahlberg brothers, whose new restaurant chain has earned a degree of fame on national television. Wahlburgers, the name of the restaurant and the A&E reality show, serves food inspired by their mother and their Boston upbringing, such as juicy burgers, cheesy fries and thick milkshakes. Wahlburgers opened at Broadway at the Beach earlier his year and has folks licking their chops for the feel-good food and celebrity sightings.
The arrival of Dave & Buster’s touched off a game of musical chairs with a pair of popular Broadway at the Beach mainstays. Hard Rock Café moved to the other end of Celebrity Square in the old Broadway Louie’s location, while Broadway Louie’s inherited the former home of Cowboys Bar & Grill. Both Hard Rock and Broadway Louie’s are open for business after undergoing extreme makeovers and facelifts to freshen up their looks. Several storefronts and sitting areas have been upgraded as part of an overall restoration project.
