Try Myrtle Beach’s Latest Brunch Spot — Mimosas

It’s relatively common for vacationers to live life on a little slower schedule — and for the daily itinerary to include some extra time for sleeping in. Of course, this can often push breakfast a bit closer than usual to lunchtime, and outside of many restaurants’ breakfast hours.

Now, for these types of vacationers who have plans to visit the Myrtle Beach area, there’s some good news. A newly opened brunch restaurant on North Kings Highway can offer some scheduling help with the midday meal … whether the visiting party is seeking breakfast dishes, lunch dishes or both.

Located at 7430 North Kings Highway — and serving both breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week — Mimosas Restaurant & Bar opened in early June, and it’s already bringing in the crowds.

The Space

Sporting a green and white exterior color scheme and the outline of an orange in the place of the “o” in its “Mimosas” signage, Mimosas sits in a building about three blocks inland from the beach and within walking distance of a number of nearby hotels. Owned by the Tabaku family — quarter-century veterans of the restaurant business who also run Matthew’s Pancake House in Little River — the eatery offers room for roughly 235 diners via both indoor and outdoor seating, with the latter seated on a large outdoor patio.

The Menus

The food offerings at Mimosas consist of chef-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes, many offering unique twists on popular dishes. Signature offerings from the breakfast menu include Crab & Avocado Toast, Fried Lobster & Waffles, Shrimp & Grits, and Chicken & Waffles, while the “Sweet Temptation” portion of the menu features Crème Brulee French Toast, Croissant French Toast, Salted Caramel Banana Stuffed French Toast and Cookie Dough Stuffed French Toast. Highlights elsewhere on the breakfast menu include French Beignets in the “Rise & Shine” section, the Texas Steak and Mimosa’s Corned Beef Hash skillets, the Breakfast Smash Burger and a range of Benedicts.

The lunch menu features starters like the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Jicama Wrap with grilled mahi and mango salsa, along with handhelds like the Crab Cake Sandwich, Ruben Melt and Pimento Chicken. The “Salad Creation” section offers fresh selections like the Blueberry Spinach Salad and Mediterranean Chicken Salad, while the “Steak Burgers” section features a range of offerings like the Mushroom Swiss Burger, the Hickory Bacon Cheddar Burger and the Impossible Burger.

The Drinks

Featuring a full-service bar that runs nearly the full length of the building, Mimosas also offers a lengthy lineup of adult beverages. True to the restaurant name, the drink menu features a Mimosas section with offerings like the Classic Mimosa, the Tropical Mimosa, the Hawaiian Mimosa and the Cherry Bomb Mimosa. The Martinis, Mojitos and Moscow Mules sections of the drinks menu also provide multiple variations on each popular drink type, and the House Bloody Mary is garnished with bacon, pickles, lime and a celery stick.

The drink menu continues with a “Refreshing Sips” section offering an array of specialty, juice-driven mixed drinks, including the Bahama Mama, Margarita and Tequila Sunrise, plus a “Classics” section featuring the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan. Finally, the “Rise & Shine” section of the drink menu features the White Russian, Spanish Coffee and Cold Brew Irish Coffee.
