You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to find one of Broadway at the Beach’s best attractions, especially after a botched science experiment gone horribly wrong landed the WonderWorks building upside down on top of a crab shack.
That’s the premise for this unique attraction that towers over the Broadway at the Beach skyline. Featuring uprooted and inverted palm trees on the top floor and a smashed-in roof on the ground floor, WonderWorks Myrtle Beach features three stories of interactive activities that are both scientific-based and entertaining.
Discover natural and scientific principles displayed presented in a laboratory setting, including several exhibits dealing with space travel, engineering, natural disasters, and events that defy nature. Experience gravity and motion in action on rides like the 360 bike ride and the 6D Extreme Motion Machine for some thrills and chills. Guests can tests their athletic skills against the pros, experience what it’s like to go through a hurricane and stomp virtual aliens all under one roof, uh, floor.
WonderWorks is truly for all ages, from children to the young at heart, making it the perfect place for families with curious natures and creative imaginations. Guests can craft their own giant bubbles in the Bubble Lab, challenge one another in an intense game of Mind Ball and play a song with their feet by jumping up and down on the keys of the Giant Piano. Visit the Imagination Lab and the Space Discovery labs for some out-of-mind and out-of-this-world exhibits.
The basement (top floor) is where all the fun and games are housed. A ropes course and laser tag room are available, and the adjoining Soar + Explore zip line offers some outdoor fun as well. Fly high above the lake on a harness and get a bird’s eye view of the entire Broadway at the Beach complex from high on a wire, and don’t forget to pick out a photo for a memorable keepsake.
In all, there are more than 100 exhibits for visitors to explore, as well as a gift shop and a snack bar. WonderWorks opens at 9 a.m. daily and closes at 10 p.m. For more information, call 843-626-9962 or visit the website at www.wonderworksonline.com.
